Do you need Green Spaces?
Then Green Spaces need you!
It is entirely through volunteers that Histon & Impington Green Spaces has been able to start managing Abbey Fields and to raise the funds to buy them for the community.
We especially need people behind the scenes, who can help to run the charity and make sure that it is effective in looking after our natural precious green spaces. That means looking after our volunteers and supporters, our funds, our information and more besides. Just a few hours a month can make a massive difference
To register your interest in a behind-the-scenes volunteer role or if you have any questions, please email Robert Bensted-Smith at chair@higreenspaces.org
Whatever your skills, if you’re enthusiastic about nature and green spaces, and can give a few hours a week, there’s a behind-the-scenes volunteer role for you. We are looking for support in all the following areas, so take your pick!
Looking after the people
Getting to know our volunteers - match their interests with the charity’s needs
Making sure that being part of the charity’s team is worthwhile and fun
Attracting a diverse mix of volunteers and ensuring gender equity
Managing projects and looking after the money
Managing projects on biodiversity, education and other topics
Book-keeping, doing the accounts or serving as a trustee and Treasurer
Looking after the information
Keeping the charity’s information organised – site management records, board minutes, policies, contracts, reports, presentations, photos etc.
Helping H&I Green Spaces to become a model charity
Helping the board or a committee with records and tracking progress
Organising training about best practices and policies
Organising annual general meetings and elections
Serving as a trustee and Board Secretary
Could you become a trustee? The Board of Trustees is responsible for making sure Histon & Impington Green Spaces is a well run charity, pursuing effectively its objective of biodiversity conservation for the benefit of the public. We’d love to welcome new trustees at this important moment, when the purchase of Abbey Fields has finally been completed.
