Progress with Charity Formation

Many of you will know that In order to fund-raise and secure Croft Close Set Aside (CCSA) and Long Meadow (LM), a new charity has been formed and its Trustees have started to meet. Known as the Histon & Impington Green Spaces Charity (HIGS), it has recently been registered by the Charity Commission. It has initially been put together as a Trustee only organisation with six Trustees, in order for the Parish Council to guarantee the purchase of land.

However, it was always our intention for the land to become the responsibility of the broader community and to enshrine community ownership. As a result, the Charity will ultimately be moved to an Association membership organisation. This together with other essential administrative processes, will take more time. Therefore, a Friends Group is being set up now and the proposal is that anyone who has signed up will automatically become a member of the new charity when the membership change is made. It will be easy to de-register.
