Closure of an access to Long Meadow Park Lane opposite Melvin Way/Pease Way
Tree consultants have advised us that the adjacent large horse chestnut is probably now in terminal decline, and that there is a small chance that it will shed large branches – possibly onto the access and its users.
We cannot risk harm to members of the public and the access has been sealed off to prevent any further use of this pathway through the hedge to and from Park Lane and Long Meadow for the time being.
The existence of several other available access points to and from the Meadow and Park Lane should result in only minimal inconvenience to those who wish to enjoy the meadow.
Another inspection will be carried out later in the year when the tree is in leaf, and appropriate action will be taken following the assessment of the health and safety of the tree.
