Nature Quiz – Sunday 16th April 2023

On Long Meadow

You can find a report on the Treasure Hunt here.

This page provides additional information about the wildlife and plants that feature in the quiz, all of which can be found on Long Meadow. This information is intended to provide more for parents and older children to explore, either on-the-fly during the event or at leisure at home. The information is set out by question number, so you can quickly locate extra details if something in the quiz really takes your interest.

There are FOUR questions:

  1. Nests (not just for the birds)

  2. More ways to work out the height of a tree

  3. Night Shift

  4. More about Earthworms

Our nature poetry challenge!

We have a small challenge for the whole family which can be started any time.

We plan to create a display of nature poetry during the Nature Hunt event. We are looking for acrostic nature poems using the initial letters of the words ABBEY FIELDS or LONG MEADOW.

Can you help us build up the display by creating your own poem or poems. We are asking you to bring your poem(s) along on the Nature Hunt day, or email the poem(s) to us at hello@abbeyfields.online. We will be adding poems to the display during the event so if you are inspired at the time you can write a poem on the day too.

Instructions and a form to complete with your poem can be downloaded here. You can enter as many poems as you like – so get creating!
