Halo Release February 2024

Path work at the Nature Reserve

On the recommendation of the veteran-tree specialist who recently came to inspect the veteran oak and field maple at the Set-aside, we are taking two actions. One is to move the path away from the zone of the field maple’s roots. There is a possibility that continued walking over the roots is causing the north western side of the tree to suffer. The second is to increase the area of the halo release around the oak.

Preliminary work has been done at both sites – well ahead of the bird nesting period. Further activity to complete the work, including tidying up the arisings, will be done once the ground dries out.
