Nature inspired book trail and storytelling a great success

Histon & Impington Green Spaces (HIGS) and HI Library Friends (HILF) collaborated on this year’s edition of the HILF Easter Holiday Book Trail. The theme for the Book Trail ‘Inspired by Nature’ was a perfect fit and Rhian Bond provided HILF with a dozen titles for books appropriate to this theme and the target age group. HILF arranged for all these books to be available through the Library Service so that they can be borrowed at any time.

The twelve books were ‘hosted’ in the window by local businesses and participants could follow a numbered trail map to find each book. Completed trail forms were entered in a draw to win Easter Eggs provided by the Coop.

On the final day HIGS ran a storytelling and craft session at the Library. Rhian entertained the children with readings of four of the books on the list, most with glove puppets or toys as props. The whale toy was rather difficult to get back in the box as it, and the story, proved very popular! The final book Mia Makes a Meadow led on to the children making bright flower pictures to take home.
