Croft Close Set-Aside and the Intriguing Shield-Shaped Field

A Heritage Zoom talk by David Oates

Croft Close Set Aside is the oldest recorded individual field in Histon, mentioned in a 1251 deed. Laser airborne radar shows that the field is crossed by two ancient double-ditched probably ancient pre-historic tracks for driving cattle to and from Westwick. David will take us on a 3000 years journey from the beginning of the earliest activity and settlement on this land through medieval times to the present. More details can be found here.

The recording of the presentation is available here .

The talk is free, but you may like to consider a donation that will contribute to helping Histon & Impington Green Spaces Charity secure the land for the community in perpetuity. Donations can be made through JustGiving or via the website.
